Excessive Use of Headphones to Listen to Music can Cause Deafness
Jul 13th 2013, 05:52

A New York City Health Department survey discovered that one out of four adults who admitted to using head phones quite frequently on personal music players, have reported diminished hearing.

The survey revealed that more than one-third of the younger lot listens to music using headphones everyday. Some of them had a habit of increasing the volume, and also listened to music for more than four hours everyday.

Those who used headphones heavily to listen to music were twice as likely to experience hearing loss as compared to those who were not frequent MP3 listeners.

For those who have trouble hearing a conversation or need to increase the volume while viewing television or listening to music must get a hearing test to evaluate the extent of hearing loss.

Experts have recommended that it is good to restrict the listening time and never ever play the music at maximum volume.
