How Do We Increase the Odds of Survival During an Air Crash?
Jul 10th 2013, 07:59

How can we up the chances of our survival during an air crash?

Increasing the odds of survival in a plane crash may depend upon the where one is seated, statistics show.

Statistics point out that those seated towards the rear of an airliner, stand a better chance of survival in the event of an air crash.

An analysis of data of commercial jet crashes revealed that in 11 of the 20 crashes, passengers seated towards the rear were better off and stood a greater chance of survival as compared to passengers seated anywhere else.

An experiment conducted in 2012, with dummies, sensors and cameras to see the impact of an intentional crash of a Boeing in the Sonoran desert in Mexico, found that the chances of survival of first class passengers was negligible as compared to 78% survival chance of the rest of the passengers.

Infact, the survival chances improved if passengers sat as far back as possible.
