Experts revealed that Girls as young as 11 are obsessed with sexting and are often convinced by boys to message them explicit pictures of themselves.
These images are regularly used to blackmail girls on Facebook and Blackberry Messaging, the Daily Star reported.
The warnings were issued at a seminar in Manchester, which was attended by teachers, social workers and police, in an attempt to deal with the issue.
A child protection unit in England told the publication that they are dealing with 80 cases of sexual exploitation, with many involving girls being groomed to share explicit images of themselves.
An assistant head teacher Jo Coleman asserted that sexting is something she deals with on a regular basis.
Coleman insisted that they have seen examples of it in children of 11 or 12 but generally it is in students from 14 onwards.
Now many schools are installing forensic software to intercept explicit messages exchanged by students on school computers.
