Teens are at an awkward age when they are child-like at times and adults the next moment. This phase is no doubt confusing and turbulent, therefore mood swings and general grumpiness about everything can be expected.
A recent report has revealed that the moodiness is due to real anxieties and worries.
A recent survey of 42000 children between 8 and 17 years of age, found that teens in the 14 and 15 age bracket reported the lowest life satisfaction rating.
Some of them were not satisfied with the way they looked. Some of them complained about their freedom. The report also showed that the under privileged children reported markedly lower well-being.
Matthew Reed, chief executive of The Children's Society, said: "The well-being of our future generation in the UK is critical. So it is incredibly worrying that any improvements this country has seen in children's well-being over the last two decades appear to have stalled. We should be paying particular attention to improving the happiness of this country's teenagers. We can't simply dismiss their low well-being as inevitable 'teen grumpiness'."
