This benefit of consuming garlic and reduced risk of lung cancer was found to be applicable even for smokers, the study revealed. "Garlic may potentially serve as a preventive agent for lung cancer," the scientists said.

During their study of healthy people and those with lung cancer, scientists found that subjects, who ate raw garlic at least twice weekly, carried a reduced chance of suffering lung cancer.

This is all due to the presence of a chemical called allicin in Garlic, which is thought to alleviate cancers and problems in the stomach.
