Man Dies Tragically Despite Visiting Hospital Twice With Chest Pain
Oct 17th 2013, 15:07

Gary Edgar went to the A&E at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie, complaining of severe pains in his arms and chest. However he was sent back after being told to take paracetamol. Hours later, he returned to the hospital with his brother, Colin, but was once again given the same advice.

He was later found dead on the floor the next morning at his house which he shared with two of his brothers.

Gary's family has criticized the hospital staff with Colin stating that his brother would have been alive if the staff had done what they were supposed to do. "Gary had already been to the hospital that day, but told me the pain was worse, so I decided we had to go back. The receptionist obviously realized that it was urgent, as he was seen quickly, but he was sent back out within minutes. The doctor said it was nothing and probably caused by stress. Gary could not drive by this time as he had such a sore head. I had to ask for his blood pressure to be taken. They said it was slightly high but no cause for concern and sent him away and told him to take more paracetamol", Colin said.
