43-year-old Rafe Biggs fell from a roof and this left him with a broken neck. He was also paralyzed below his waist and thus felt no sensation. Obviously, this meant that his penis had no sensation and it seemed like the end of his sex life.
To his surprise, when his girlfriend began to suck and caress his thumb, he began to feel aroused and experienced the same sexual pleasure. He is now taking his thumb as a "surrogate penis".
He went on to explain how he felt a surge of energy as if he was getting closer to orgasm. He added, "When I did it - it was amazing. I never thought it would be possible, but massaging and sucking on my thumb, feels a lot like my penis used to feel - it's really hot".
According to Mr. Biggs' sex therapist, Lisa Skye Carl, he is experiencing what is called as a transfer orgasm. This means another area in the body enables the same sexual pleasure as the penis.
Mr Biggs has initiated a support group to help people with disabilities to enjoy sex.
