Walnuts Linked to Reduced Type 2 Diabetes Risk in Women
Apr 2nd 2013, 16:03

Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health observed more than 137,000 nurses between 35 and 77 years of age over a period of 10 years. They recorded the participants' dietary habits and also observed how many of them ate nuts, including walnuts.

The researchers found that nurses who ate walnuts at least twice a month had reduced their risk of type II diabetes by four percent while those who ate walnuts at least twice a week reduced their diabetes risk by 24 percent. "These results suggest higher walnut consumption is associated with a significantly lower risk of type two diabetes in women", the researchers wrote in their report.
