Stress, Multitasking Make Women Prone to Mental Health Problems

Women are nearly 75% more likely than men to suffer from anxiety disorders. The good part is women are likely to report it than men. The study showed that men tend to report substance misuse disorders rather than other forms of mental health issues.

"It could simply be that people have stereotypes about anxiety and that it's more socially acceptable for a woman to be anxious. While for men, it may look out of character. They may be expected to be less emotional and more assertive. Women tend to seek emotional support by talking about their fears. On average, men tend to engage more in avoidance," researchers said.

Multitasking on the part of women contribute to stress and adds to the monotony of women's lives. Single parenting, handling careers and managing the home front smoothly can put women under a lot of stress and this is thought to affect their emotional health. This is one of the reasons why women are more prone to suffer anxiety disorders and depression.
