Brain Development may be Delayed in Kids Who Have Access to Smartphones
Aug 5th 2013, 15:52

While parents believe that smartphones act as a learning tool for their children, experts say that allowing children to access smartphones at such a young age could affect their brain development. They also added that the smartphones are not being used as learning tools but are used for distraction.

Speaking on the TV show 'CBS This Morning', psychiatrist Gail Saltz said, "These years are the years that you need to be developing vocabulary, which means speaking and listening , so if you're engaged in a gadget, you're really minimizing that. We've seen all kinds of data now on play and how important it is to, frankly, be bored and be stimulated to do imaginative play, what that does for building creativity."
