Hangovers Impair the Way the Brain Works
Aug 2nd 2013, 17:05

Psychologists studying hangovers have found that excessive drinking and a hangover decreases the efficiency of the brain.

The findings show that the effects of going over board on alcohol can last much longer than the time it takes to become sober. The brain is unable to function with normal efficiency and those experiencing a hangover also feel anxious, nauseated and dizzy.

Dr Lauren Owen, at Keele University's school of psychology, and team leader of this study said: "Most people are familiar with the undesirable hangover effects that may arise the day after excessive drinking. What's more the symptoms of alcohol hangover are not just physiological - they affect cognitive functioning and mood as well which may lead to numerous undesirable life consequences."
