New Term to Denote Binge Drinking in France
Aug 1st 2013, 16:48

The phrase received an official approval by France's General Commission of Terminology and Neology.

The commission has defined "Beuverie express" to mean fast drinking and is actually, the "massive consumption of alcohol, usually as part of a group, designed to cause intoxication in a minimum amount of time".

This new word could also imply a change of drinking habits in France. There is undoubtedly a rise in binge drinking in France, especially among the younger lot.

"We see more and more seriously drunk young people in the emergency room, who will stay for 24 hours, sometimes two days, to sober up," a gastroenterologist said.
