Regular Exercise may Improve Emotional Well-Being During Pregnancy
Aug 5th 2013, 15:52

Researchers led by Anca Gaston and Harry Prapavessis analyzed the psychological effect of a four week exercise intervention program among pregnant women who were previously inactive.

The researchers said that during pregnancy, a woman often displayed high levels of depression, anxiety and fatigue, leading to unwanted weight gain and substance use which resulted in premature births or smaller babies.

The researchers found that people who regularly exercise displayed improved moods and lower fatigue levels. The researchers revealed that high fatigue levels disturbed sleep and higher chances of cesarean delivery, adding that physical exercise can help improve mental and physical health. The study has been published in the journal Psychology & Health.
