Thirty-nine Animals Infected With Rabies in Taiwan Aug 6th 2013, 13:35 Rabies has been reported in seven counties and cities - Nantou, Yunlin, Taitung, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Chiayi, Xinhua reported. The centre said 300 animal epidemic prevention staff members have been vaccinated and about 1,000 people are expected to be given vaccination shots starting Monday. The island started reporting rabies cases last month. Officials have reassured the pubic that vaccines were sufficient and the outbreak was under control. No humans or dogs have so far been reported to be infected with the disease. Before July, Taiwan had been rabies-free since 1959. Source-IANS
