Novel IV Catheter Insertion System Sep 7th 2013, 06:30 A new device has been developed by a team of engineers and clinicians from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Hadassah Medical Center in Israel. This device helps make IV catheter insertion an automatic, safe and a reliable procedure. The SAGIV device is designed to use infrared light to spot the veins and to guide the needle. Electronic sensors help in making an error-free insertion of the needle as it enters the vessel. It is hoped that this device will reduce the errors while inserting IV catheters. Source-Medindia
