Benefits Stopped for Woman Who Says She Cannot Work Due to Shoe Allergy
Oct 25th 2013, 15:18

A tribunal in Britain has ruled that a 45-year old woman who has received over 100,000 in benefits after saying that she could not work due of a shoe allergy, will have to return to work as she can no longer be able to claim benefits.

Tracy Kenny, from Eccles, Greater Manchester, revealed that she is allergic to rubber, glue, nickel and metal and cannot wear any type of shoes as they leave her with blisters.

She has been receiving disability living allowance for the last 20 years but a medical test last year found her fit to work and her 110 a week allowance was withdrawn.

Mrs Kenny said that she has tried all sorts of footwear, with doctors at Salford Royal even getting special footwear made in Switzerland, without any luck. "I've tried everything to help - the doctors at Salford Royal even organized for a pair of clogs to be made in Switzerland for me. But I had a reaction to the canvas material on the top. It's also linked to stress, and it doesn't help that my 22-year-old son Joshua is serving in Afghanistan. How can I go to work, or go to job interviews, with no shoes on? I just don't know what to do. I can only wear shoes for 10 or 15 minutes, before my feet blister and split", she said.
