A new study finds that constant stroking can leave your cat stressed out.
Professor Daniel Mills, of Lincoln University, has proved that although some felines tolerate it, constant caressing is disliked by them and causes them to be most stressed, Metro.co.uk reported.
He also said that contrary to popular perception, cats are not solitary creatures and added that even if they are not best friends with other cats, they may be able to organize themselves to avoid each other without getting stressed.
The research, published in the journal Physiology and Behavior suggested that cat lovers should ensure that their pet has individual control over its environment.
The study in the behavior and emotional state of cats was conducted by teams from the University of Lincoln, the University of Sao Paulo and the University of Veterinary Medicine in Austria.
