Neon was diagnosed with cancer after doctors found a tumor the size of a 50 pence piece in his brain. He was taken away by his mother, Sally, and was subject of a four-day search and following a court ruling, doctors provided the post-surgery treatment that he needed.
Speaking in a new documentary, You're Killing My Son: The Mum Who Went on the Run, his father Ben said that while he was hopeful that Neon's mother could find a non-invasive treatment, he was not willing to risk the life of his son on that hope.
"I was kind of hopeful that she might find something as well, I've got to say, but I still wasn't prepared to risk his life against a gamble like that, you know, cancer itself is invasive, you can't just ask it to leave politely, it's not going to listen, is it? Neon is recovering well. He is much steadier on his feet these days. Both his physical strength and inner confidence are growing on a daily basis", he said.
