Your Wrist can be Home to an Atomic Clock
Oct 4th 2013, 18:37

Well-known Hawaiian watch outfit, Bathys Hawaii, has come out with this new timepiece named the Cesium 133.

The design of this watch comes with a single chip which is home to "a laser, a heater, and a sealed cavity of cesium gas, a microwave filter and a photodiode detector."

This combination kit enables the watch to count "hyperfine lines of excited cesium 133 atoms" in a manner similar to the calculation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST's) NIST-F1 clock, which is the official time source in USA.

Bathys has said that 20 such new watches will be made and sold in 2014. The price of the watch could be steep and could be around $US12.

Cesium-powered timepiece is designed to lose just one second a millennium.
